(Jay-AP) -- Two Delaware County Jail inmates have been charged with assault in battery in a brawl that sent a third inmate to the hospital. Robert Barnes and Michael Lonewolf are charged in connection with the violence that occurred Thursday when at least 12 inmates began throwing cups of urine at jailers. The inmates then shredded their bedding and stuffed it down the jail's toilets. Authorities put the jail under lockdown.
Inmate Larry Owens was hospitalized and treated for internal injuries and severe cuts. Authorities say about 40 prisoners were in the jail at the time of the incident, which lasted until almost 4 a-m. More than 15 officers from the surrounding area helped sheriff's deputies get control of the jail. Authorities plan to charge prisoners who started and took part in the riot.
