(Broken Arrow-AP) -- Nothing will stop Steve Money from running for Congress, not even a heart attack. Money says he'll continue to seek the Republican nomination in the Second District.

He is recovering from a heart attack and last week's surgery. He and six other Republicans and three Democrats are vying for the job being vacated by U.S. Representative Tom Coburn.

Money suffered a heart attack in July during a candidate's forum at the Cherokee Nation's Tahlequah headquarters. He says he looks forward to attending other candidate forums and would like to finish the one he started at the Cherokee Nation.

Money says his experience proves the importance of the issue he's pushing in his campaign platform -- better health care, particularly for Indians and rural residents. He says his heart is “essentially undamaged” and is pumping at full capacity.
