(Tulsa-AP) -- The Tulsa Drillers were named the top minor league baseball franchise last year. But some fans may not have gotten the message.

Attendance at Drillers' games is off almost ten percent this summer from 1999. Tulsans turned out in record numbers last year, with the team recording overall attendance of $352,000.

Club officials believe there are several possible reasons for the decline in attendance. They point first to the Tulsa Talons who just completed their first season in the arena football-Two league.

The also say rainy, cool weather during the spring and oppressive heat for the past month may be keeping fans away.
