NEW YORK (AP) — Two men have been arrested and charged with fatally stabbing a graduate student from Kansas last year as she was walking to her apartment.

Amy Watkins, 26, was found dead on a sidewalk in Brooklyn with a kitchen knife in her back March 8, 1999. Police believe robbery was a motive.

David Jamison, 27, was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder, and Felix Rodriguez, 20, was charged early Thursday with second-degree murder. The two Brooklyn men also were charged with first-degree robbery and criminal possession of a weapon.

Watkins, raised in Lawrence, Kan., was walking home from a grocery store when she was stabbed. She was a second-year graduate student at Hunter College's School of Social Work.
