A plane crashed into Keystone Lake this morning. Keystone Lake is located west of Tulsa. The plane crashed near the area of Sandy Beach Park. Only one person, the pilot, was aboard and was rescued.
The pilot, Sondra Romero, is an experienced flight instructor from Bixby. Updates on her condition were not being released by St. John's Medical Center.
Authorities say that Romero was flying her own Sea Rey Tuesday morning when it flipped over in the lake upon landing. The Sea Rey is designed for water landings.
Friends of Romero say the plane was built more than two years ago by Romero's husband. It is labeled "experimental" because the plane is hand-built.
As of 5:00 P.M. Tuesday, the NTSB finished it's investigation and left the plane submerged in the water. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says removal of the plane is Romero's responsibility.
