WICHITA FALLS - The Cowboys are honoring former coach Tom Landry, who died in February, by placing an image of his trademark fedora on their uniforms, the club announced Thursday.

Landry, who coached the team from 1960-1988, ended his career as the third- winningest coach in NFL history with 270 victories.

He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1990 and to the Cowboys' Ring of Honor in 1993.

"He is the most significant person and personality in the history of the Dallas Cowboys franchise,'' Jones said.

While declining to divulge specifics, Jones said the Cowboys are also planning a special ceremony honoring Landry sometime this season.
