Northeastern State hires softball coach

(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Former Central Oklahoma assistant softball coach Dee Gerlach has been hired as head coach for the Northeastern State softball program.

Gerlach worked as a U-C-O assistant coach from 1998 to 1999 and played at U-C-O from 1984 to 1987. Gerlach was a Missouri Southern State assistant last season.

Northeastern went 18-22 and qualified for the Lone Star Conference Tournament last season under Tim Livesay. Livesay retired after 20 seasons at Northeastern.
