Cellular phones are handy, especially in an emergency situations, but a warning from the Oklahoma Corporation commission this holiday weekend as you head out to the lake or other recreational area.
Authorities say that unlike a land line phone, a 9-1-1 operator does not receive an automatic readout of the address or location from which you are calling when you use a cellular phone.
This means you need to be able to describe exactly where are for emergency personnel to reach you in a timely manner.
The same applies to pay phones near lake and resort areas.
Authorities suggest writing down the address or location of where you and taping it to the back of your cell phone just in case you are confronted with an emergency.
