TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- New Tulsa basketball coach Buzz Peterson said Friday that Ed Conroy, head coach at Francis Marion University, will join his staff as director of basketball operations.

Peterson also announced the hiring of two assistant coaches, Al Daniel, a former associate head coach at North Carolina State, and Kerry Keating, his assistant at Appalachian State.

Conroy, 33, guided his South Carolina team to a 41-40 mark, during the past three seasons. He also has served as an assistant at Furman University, Virginia Military Institute and North Carolina State. Conroy was a three-year starter at point guard for The Citadel.

Daniel, 43, joins Peterson's staff after serving for three years as associate director of Howell Sports Management. He previously spent six years under coach Les Robinson at North Carolina State.

Daniel and Peterson worked together under Robinson from 1990 to1993. Peterson said Daniel's people skills make him an excellent recruiter.

Keating, 28, spent two seasons under Peterson at Appalachian State. Prior to that, he served as an assistant at Seton Hall under George Blaney and Tommy Amaker.

Peterson announced Thursday that he would retain Tulsa assistant John Phillips, who coached under Bill Self. Self left Tulsa for the head coach's job at Illinois.
