WASHINGTON (AP) — At the onset of the tourist season, the State Department on Tuesday urged American citizens worldwide to be on the lookout for possible threats from terrorists.
An announcement by the department said the advisory was not issued in response to any particular threat, but is intended to emphasize an ongoing concern for the security of Americans overseas.
The announcement said that periods on or around significant dates, such as the Aug. 7 second anniversary of the bombings of the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, ``may be chosen as opportunities for further terrorist acts.''
