(Tulsa-AP) -- New University of Tulsa basketball coach Buzz Peterson is not even in Tulsa full-time yet, but he already he finds himself under an intense recruiting demand -- the need to sign Albanian junior college transfer Ermal Kuqo.

Former Tulsa coach Bill Self helped recruit the 6-foot-10 center from Fort Scott Community College in Kansas. Peterson says it's important for Kuqo to know he's still needed in the program.

To let Kuqo know that, Peterson had to track down the player with a phone call to his native Albania and says he plans to meet with the player face-to-face some time next week.

Other early business for Peterson included meeting with staff and media and taking a congratulatory phone call from his former North Carolina teammate and roommate, Michael Jordan.
