NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Broadcaster Bob Barry Sr. will handle the play-by-play for the Oklahoma Sooners football team for a final year and then will take on new duties of helping the athletic department develop its sports programming, the university said Wednesday. Athletic director Joe Castiglione said Barry had requested to celebrate his 40th anniversary of football play-by-play with a final season doing play-by-play for the football team. "Bob's outstanding skills, coupled with his desire to seek new challenges following his 40th year of football play-by-play, offered us an unparalleled opportunity to seek his assistance in our sports programming," Castiglione said. Barry said he would continue to be an integral part of the broadcast team for Oklahoma athletics. Barry will handle the call for Sooner basketball for his 23rd year this fall. Barry is the weekday sports anchor at KFOR, where he has worked since 1966.
