McElmurry Found Guilty on Two Counts of Murder

Harold McElmurry has been found guilty in the trial in which he was accused of killing an elderly Lenna couple. Attorneys for McElmurry say he was taking the fall for his wife when he confessed to murdering the couple.

McElmurry's defense turned the blame to his wife just before the case went to the jury today.

McElmurry was found guilty on two counts of first-degree murder in the August 2, 1999, deaths of Vivian and Robert Pendley. He could receive the death penalty.

Defense attorneys said in closing arguments that prosecutors failed to show that McElmurry was at the scene of the crime. Investigators allegedly found the purse and footprint of Vickie McElmurry at the Pendley home.

Harold and Vickie McElmurry were arrested trying to cross the border back into the United States from Mexico in the Pendleys' stolen car.
