MANTEO, N.C. (AP) — Andy Griffith, scheduled to appear in the movie ``Daddy and Them'' with Billy Bob Thornton this fall, is recovering from a heart attack and quadruple bypass surgery.
Griffith, 74, underwent surgery May 9 at a Norfolk, Va., hospital. Doctors anticipate a complete recovery, his agent said.
Longtime friend Barbara Forrest of Mount Airy, the actor's hometown and the inspiration for the fictional town of Mayberry on ``The Andy Griffith Show,'' said Griffith's wife Cindi said her husband is still weak, but slowly recovering at his Manteo home.
