(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Student fees are going up.

The State Regents for Higher Education today approved the requests of Oklahoma universities to increase student fees by three
to five dollars per credit hour.

The increases will pay for expansion and renovation projects.

Regents approved the University of Oklahoma's request to raise fees to pay for the expansion of its health and fitness center.

The O-U Health Sciences Center wants an increase in fees to pay a new floor in its student center.

Oklahoma State University would use higher fees for renovation of its recreation and fitness center, which needs structural repairs.

Northeastern State University plans to spend the increase on a new science lab.

Rogers State University wants a tuition increase to pay for conversion to a four-year university.
