AMMON, Idaho (AP) â€” An 11-year-old boy was killed when a baseball struck him in the throat during pregame warmups for a Little League game.

First baseman Devin Beck was warming up Wednesday night when a ball thrown by a teammate deflected off his mitt and hit his neck, crushing his trachea, Bonneville County Sheriff's Sgt. Karl Casperson said. The boy went into cardiac arrest and died in a hospital about an hour later.

Beck's parents saw the accident.
