LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Former Arkansas star Sidney Moncrief resigned Tuesday as basketball coach at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock after one year.
Moncrief said he would become an assistant with the Dallas Mavericks of the NBA.
``This is an opportunity that I did not pursue,'' Moncrief said in a statement released by the university. ``I have enjoyed my year of coaching and my year of association with UALR. However, the magnitude of the offer and opportunity was such that I had to give it serious consideration and ultimately accepted the position.''
Moncrief became coach in March 1999. The Trojans were 4-24 last season.
