Bill calls for spending $45 billion over 15 years to conserve lands

(Washington-AP) -- Oklahoma would be getting about $16.7 million dollars for conservation and environmental cleanup if a massive conservation bill makes it through the House and Senate.

The bill calls for spending nearly 45 billion dollars over 15 years to buy public lands, create new urban parks, protect wildlife and restore eroded beaches.

The bill has been endorsed by 314 of the 435 House members. But the bill's prospects in the Senate remain unclear.

Current distribution plans would make coastal states with offshore oil drilling the biggest winners including Alaska which would get $163 million dollars; California with #324 million; Louisiana, slated for $311 million; and Texas with $236 million.
