(Houston-AP) -- Conoco Incorporated announced today that it has named an adviser to presidential candidate George W- Bush as a director of the oil company.

Kenneth M- Duberstein was elected to the board along with retired Marine Corps General Charles C- Krulak.

Duberstein was a congressional aide and Labor Department official who rose to briefly serve as White House chief of staff under President Ronald Reagan. He is chairman and chief executive of The Duberstein Group, a lobbying firm whose clients include General Motors and Time Warner.

Duberstein also serves on the boards of The Boeing Company, the Federal National Mortgage Association, the Saint Paul Companies and Global Vacation Group.

Conoco's operations include a refinery in Ponca City, Oklahoma.
