(Tulsa-AP) -- An auxiliary officer who died after an hour-long fight with a suspect will finally be honored 27 years later.
Glenn Truman Wortham was a Tulsa auxiliary officer. He'll be recognized for the first time at a Tulsa Police Department memorial ceremony honoring 38 other officers who died in the line of duty.
His son Carl Wortham is assistant chief of the Sand Springs police department.
He says his dad would be embarrassed but would feel it was the highest honor he could receive.
Wortham died of a heart attack in a Tulsa emergency room after having been kicked in the chest during the struggle.
The suspect was charged with murder but the charge was later dropped.
Wortham's name was added to the National Memorial in Washington in 1994.
