Pink is a fresh face and voice in a field that's crowded with 'N Sync, Mandy Moore, Jessica Simpson, Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears.

At times on her new CD, Can't Take Me Home (LaFace), she sounds too much like Aguilera. The chorus on her song Spilt Personality sounds nearly identical to Aguilera's Genie In a Bottle.

That's not original, but it's good news for Pink, because, like Aguilara and Simpson, Pink is an energetic personality and a natural singer.

What separates Pink from the rest of the teen-pop signers, in addition to her bright pink hair, is the harder, more danceable edge she gives songs like There You Go.

Pink leans more heavily on hip-hop beats than the other teen-pop singers. But at a time when some digital beats can be boring, her's are bold, as if they're announcing the coming of royalty at a fancy wedding. (For this, Pink should thank the CD's producers, L.A. Reid and Babyface, who have produced big records for Madonna and Whitney Houston.)

Pink keeps the lyrics clean, and sings about bottled-up frustration over guys not taking her seriously and anxiety over relationships gone bad. She name drops chain restaurants like Pizza Hut, making her songs sound like an after-school chat with your girlfriends. With her bright voice and engaging personality, Pink's bound to catch the attention of teen guys and girls.
