Two people who know what it's like to have to live on the streets are walking across the country to raise awareness about America's homeless problem. They stopped in Tulsa this week. Billy and Nora Burks began their journey in Kentucky and plan to walk all the way to Los Angeles along old route 66. The couple met in a homeless shelter in Kentucky and realized they both wanted to make a difference. They hope to educate people about the need for more shelters and the need for community assistance. The Burks say too many Americans are blind to the reality of homelessness. "They don't think it can happen to them. You can become homeless just that quick and they misjudge the homeless, too, they're not bad people." The Burks encourage people they meet along the way to donate to area homeless shelter or to other organizations that help the homeless.
