(New York-AP) -- Ford Motor Company wants to see more children in booster seats -- so it's kicking off a safety education campaign with some give-aways.
As part of the effort, Ford plans to give 500,000 child booster seats to low-income families.
Another half million seats will go to people who buy Ford vehicles.
A safety engineer for the auto maker says the aim is to get one million of the booster seats in use within the year.
Ford says it hopes to raise awareness about the boosters -- which safety experts say aren't being used nearly enough for kids aged 4 through 8.
