VINITA, Okla. (AP) -- Services are Saturday for champion rodeo performer and trick rider Norma Truan Shoulders.
She died Tuesday. She was 75.
Shoulders started performing in small rodeos while growing up in Henryetta. When she was 14, she was asked to perform in the Tulsa Stampede. Two years later, she joined the Flying A Rodeo.
Her career skyrocketed when Shoulders was selected to be one of four female riders in the 52-performance run of Autry's Rodeo at Madison Square Garden in New York.
She was a lifetime Gold Card member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and a nominee for the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at the Emmanuel Temple.
Shoulders is survived by her two sons, Tony Shoulders of Vinita and Mike Shoulders of LaCrosse, Kan.
