(Norman-AP) -- The man who led the Oklahoma men's gymnastics team to the conference championship and a fourth-place national finish is now head coach of the team.

Mark Williams was elevated from his interim position to permanent head coach today.

Athletic director Joe Castiglione announced
the appointment.

Williams said he would retain Doug Macey as his assistant coach. Macey joined the staff before the start of last season from U-C-L-A.
