OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The Oklahoma men's basketball team picked up two new players Wednesday and Oklahoma State signed one on the first day of the spring signing period.
The Sooners announced the signings of junior college center Jozsef Szendrei and high school point guard Blake Johnston. Oklahoma State signed Melvin Sanders of Seward County (Kan.) Community College.
Szendrei, 6-foot-9 and 240 pounds, averaged 15.4 points and 14.8 rebounds per game last season at Northeastern Colorado JuniorC ollege in Sterling, Colo.
"I think he fits Oklahoma basketball," coach Kelvin Sampson said. "The things that we've done to win here at Oklahoma, Jozsef is good at. He has a great nose for the ball and can really, really rebound. I think he'll be outstanding for us."
The 6-1 Johnston is from Midland High School in Midland, Texas, where he averaged 23 points, eight assists and 5.4 steals per game last season.
Sanders, a 6-5 swing man, averaged 13.7 points and 5.4 rebounds per game last season.
"He's a tremendously gifted athlete and he's become a fine basketball player," OSU coach Eddie Sutton said. "We saw him last year at this time, and his improvement has been impressive."
