(Stillwater-AP) -- Oklahoma State pitcher Matt Smith got his fourth win of the season, giving up only four hits in seven innings of work as the Cowboys beat Cal State-Northridge 8-to-5 Sunday.

Oklahoma State broke open the game with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

First baseman Curt Anthony doubled to left center and drove in two. Kyle Smith also got an R-B-I.

The Cowboys tacked on three more runs in the seventh, and the Matadors got three in the top of the eighth but couldn't close the gap.

Bill Murphy was the losing pitcher, giving up five hits in three-point-one innings of work.
