(Chicago-AP) -- A giant oil company has settled five out of six lawsuits brought on behalf of employees claiming they got brain cancer at work.

Terms of the settlements were not disclosed, and B-P Amoco says it's confident the last suit will also be settled.

B-P Amoco acknowledged last year that six workers likely contracted brain cancer at a company research center in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

The lawsuits alleged the center in the Chicago suburb of Naperville had inadequate ventilation and lax safety, leaving workers exposed to toxins.

Meanwhile, B-P Amoco's legal battles may not be over. More than a dozen other employees at the same Naperville center were stricken with different tumors. The company has denied any connection.
