(Oklahoma City-AP) -- A bill that could force criminals to pay part of the cost of prosecuting their cases has passed the House with about a three-fourths margin.
Representative Fred Morgan is the bill's sponsor. Morgan says it's about time that criminals pay their own prosecution costs. House Bill 2401 would require convicted criminals to pay a fee of up to 90 dollars to help defray prosecution costs.
Morgan estimates the bill could generate between one and two million dollars a year. The bill passed 73-to-27 yesterday and now goes to the Senate
