(Denver-AP) -- Former Detroit Lions' quarterback Gus Frerotte is talking with the Denver Broncos. The University of Tulsa product opted out of his contract with the Lions and is scheduled to visit Denver today.
Some see him challenging the inexperienced Brian Griese for the starting job. The Broncos are in need of a quarterback since Kent Graham is being courted by Pittsburgh. The organization has also hinted that they're hoping San Francisco's Steve Young will become available.
Frerotte won two games in relief of Detroit's Charlie Batch last season and another two as a starter. He completed almost 61 percent of his passes with nine touchdowns and seven interceptions.
