LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Real Quiet, winner of the 1998 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, has been retired. Real Quiet arrived this week at The Vinery, near Lexington, Ky., where he will stand at stud.

Real Quiet cracked a bone in his leg in August and missed the remainder of the season, including the Breeders' Cup Classic. Trained by Bob Baffert, 5-year-old Real Quiet had 20 starts and finished with a record of 6-5-6.

The colt, purchased by Mike Pegram for $17,000, had lifetime earnings of $3,271,802. After winning the Kentucky Derby and Preakness, Real Quiet missed the Triple Crown by losing to Victory Gallop in the Belmont by a nose.
