(Oklahoma City-AP) -- A three-thousand-dollar pay raise for the state's teachers has passed the Senate without debate on a47-nothing vote. Earlier in the day, the Oklahoma House passed the bill. It now goes before Governor Keating, who has said he would sign the bill into law.
The vote followed a morning rally by thousands of the state's teachers, who called for better pay, more counselors, better benefits and more school support personnel. After the rally, teachers filled the Capitol lobbying for their cause.
