TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Ken Jackson, author of five novels and a former newspaper writer and editor, died Sunday. Jackson died at the Claremore Veterans' Center at age 74. He was the author of five novels and a newspaper writer and editor with stints at the Kansas City Star, Chicago Daily News, Pryor Daily News and the Tahlequah Star-Citizen.
He also held writing and editing positions at the Tulsa World and was executive vice president at Chicago-based Phillip Lesly Co., a public relations firm. His first two books, "The Cutting Edge" and "The StickingPoint," were published by Simon & Schuster in the early '70s. His next two, "Necessary" and "Control," were published by St. Martin's Press in the late '80s. Jackson's final novel, "Carry Up My Bones," was released in 1991 by the Tulsa-based Council Oak Books.
