TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- The wife of Vice President Al Gore plans a Tulsa campaign stop Tuesday. Tulsa County Democratic Party Chairman Keith McArtor said Tipper Gore's visit will focus on election issues facing state Democrats this year.

The vice president will be elsewhere battling former Sen. Bill Bradley for the Democratic presidential nomination. Tipper Gore's schedule is tentative, but local Democrats hope to arrange a visit to a school where she would discuss education issues. There are also tentative plans for a meeting in downtown Tulsa, McArtor said. The visit shows that the national Democratic Party believes "Oklahoma is important in this year's election," McArtor said
