(Undated-AP) -- There are some surprises in Big 12 men's basketball this season. After all, who picked Missouri or Iowa State to compete? Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma State, were widely thought to be just about the only teams with any chance of capturing the Big 12 title. But Kansas has lost two straight road games -- at Missouri and Iowa State -- and dropped to 5-and-2 in the conference.
Iowa State is 6-and-1 after a 74-to-66 win over 12th-ranked Kansas on Saturday. Missouri, which beat Kansas by 22 last week and then pounded Texas A-and-M 93-to-62 on Saturday -- stands at 5-and-1. Texas and Oklahoma State are holding form. The Longhorns raised their conference record to 6-and-1 Saturday with a 75-to-65 win over Colorado, and Oklahoma State beat Baylor 67-to-51 yesterday t ogo to 5-and-1.
On the other end of the scale are Baylor, Kansas State and Texas Tech. Eighteenth-ranked Oklahoma raised its conference mark to 4-and-2with a 78-to-61 win that left Texas Tech winless in six league games. Baylor's loss yesterday left the Bears at 1-and-5. And Kansas State's 81-to-72 loss to Nebraska on Saturday left the Wildcats with a six-game skid and a 1-and-6 record in league play.
