(DALLAS-FORT WORTH NOTE) (Norman, Oklahoma-AP) -- New Cowboys head coach Dave Campo has had a big fan in Barry Switzer for more than a decade. And five years ago, Switzer persuaded Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to promote Campo to defensive coordinator.
Switzer says the first year he was Cowboys head coach, he spent 90 per cent of his time in defensive meetings. And he says Campo's interaction and game-planning convinced him that Campo was the right man for the job. Switzer says he believes Campo will deal well with Jerry Jones as a hands-on owner. He says Jones gets a bad rap from the media, and that he doesn't meddle in the big things.
But Switzer says Campo has some work to do to take the Cowboys back to the Super Bowl. He says the Cowboys need to get some receivers and address who will play cornerback.
