(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Tattoo artists were at the Capitol today, asking lawmakers to make the profession legal in Oklahoma. Tattooists spoke before the House Public Health Committee. It's become an annual push to have the Legislature lift the legal prohibition that has made tattooing taboo since 1963.

The tattoo artists say they want passage of Senate Bill 44,which would regulate the business. But they want even tougher provisions than those already in the bill. Among other things, they asked that licenses be required for tattoo artists.
