(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Oklahoma City's city manager has recommended that the Oklahoma City Blazers remain the city's minor league hockey team. City Manager Glenn Deck issued his report to the City Council this morning. Deck has been studying contract proposals submitted by the Blazers and the Kansas City Blades of the International Hocke yLeague. The Blades had hoped to relocate to Oklahoma City.
Deck says the I-H-L has more national exposure and is a better brand of hockey than the Central Hockey League. But he says switching would be risky because the franchise might not be successful. And Deck says he believes the Blazers add to the city's quality of life. The City Council still must vote on whether to endorse Deck's recommendation. That vote likely will come next week.
