Tulsa's bus system is on the fast track with new express routes. A half million dollar grant allowed the Transit Authority to add two routes, both of which began Monday.
The authority says it chose the routes because they both serve growing employment sites. "There's some customers we have that walk up to two miles a day right now who are not able to get to their employment site directly. So with this transportation, they will be able to get there without walking, said Cynthia Staab, Tulsa Transit.
The first non-stop express route will run from the main bus terminal on Denver in downtown Tulsa and up Highway 75 to the Cherokee Industrial Park, stopping at the Whirlpool plant and WorldCom. The second also starts downtown and travels along the Broken Arrow Expressway, stopping at 46th and Sheridan and 58th and Mingo.
For details on schedules call Tulsa Transit at 585-1195.
