Cuban American activists in Miami say they're calling a temporary halt to their protests over Elian Gonzalez's case. But they say they'll remain on alert.
One activist says the halt is a show of "good faith" to let the six-year-old Cuban boy get due process and "his day in court." Activists say they're happy about the latest development in the international custody fight over Elian.
Republican Congressman Dan Burton has subpoenaed him to testify on Capitol Hill -- a move that could prevent officials from carrying out the I-N-S decision to return the boy to his father in Cuba by the end of next week.
Activists say if there's any attempt to send the boy back, they'll continue to protest in Miami and disrupt traffic through out the city.
