(Tulsa-AP) -- Attorneys for two Oklahoma inmates scheduled to die next month say they won't seek clemency hearings. Malcolm Johnson faces a January 6th execution for a 1981 rape and murder, while five-time killer Gary Walker faces a January 13th death.
Lawyers say neither has hope for a last-minute reprieve -- a feeling the lawyers say is growing more common among Oklahoma inmates sentenced to die. If three of five clemency board members vote for clemency, the governor could then consider commuting a death sentence. Another inmate will try for clemency. Michael Roberts faces a February 10th execution date.
