(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Relatives of a man who was shot to death in 1962 are upset about his killer's pending release. A-C Walters is scheduled to be freed on December 23rd.

Walters was charged with murder in the 1962 deaths of James Richard Chaney and his two brothers-in-law. A jury convicted Walters in 1968 of manslaughter in Chaney's death. He was sentenced to 99 years in prison but was paroled in 1974. Parole was revoked in 1983 after he attacked and seriously injured his wife.

Sherry Stamper is Chaney's daughter. Stamper says she believes she should have been notified sooner about the release of Walters -- now 72. Stamper has lobbied for three decades to prevent Walters' release.
