(Muskogee, Oklahoma-AP) -- The parents of a student accused in this week's Oklahoma school shooting are asking for forgiveness. In their first public statement since Monday's shooting, Debbie and Randy Trickey say they're not sure their son Seth even knows why it happened.

The Trickeys say in their statement that they're broken-hearted over the loss of what would have been a promising future for Seth. The Trickeys also say their sorrow and grief for the wounded children and their families is beyond expression. Four people were injured by gunshots. A fifth person was wounded by a bullet that ricocheted. Still, the Trickeys say their love for their son remains "firm and unconditional
