Most people migrating to Oklahoma are locating in the Tulsa Area. The average labor force in the Tulsa area increased by 12,777 (3.3 percent) during the first nine months of the year. Statewide, the labor force grew by 29,108 (1.8 percent) and nationwide by 1.7 million (1.3 percent). The average labor force stood at 426,100 in the Tulsa MSA, 1,650,450 in the state and 139.2 million in the nation.
Since 1995, the Tulsa area labor force has increased by almost 47,000 people, which adds up to an increase of nearly 12,000 annually. Job growth has actually outpaced labor force growth, and the result has been a tight labor market. Most major businesses have responded with nationwide recruitment campaigns.
