The superintendent of Oklahoma City's public schools says a teacher should be fired for putting masking tape on two students' mouths.
Columbus Enterprise Elementary teacher Manuel Siemens says he applied the tap in jest.
But Superintendent Marvin Crawford says Siemens violated the district's code of conduct.
The school board will decide Monday whether to accept Crawford's recommendation that the teacher be let go.
If the board agrees, then Siemens can appeal the decision and have a termination hearing.
The president of the Oklahoma City American Federation of Teachers says Crawford's recommendation is unfair and that the union is likely to fight the firing attempt.
