The F-B-I hopes D-N-A will be found on
razor-lined envelopes mailed to 88 animal researchers in 13 states.

Officials say the letters were mailed from Las Vegas.

F-B-I offices across the nation are retrieving the letters from the recipients and mailing them to the Las Vegas office.

Agents say the razor blades were taped to the inside flap of the envelope. A person would be cut when he puts his hand in to extract
the letter.

The letter gives scientists a year to abandon their research or -- quote -- "your violence will be turned back upon you."

Researchers in Alabama, California, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Oregon, Tennessee, Washington and Wisconsin have been targeted.
