Governor Keating's plan to use tobacco settlement money for a 500 (m) million-dollar bond issue has come under attack.
At a legislative hearing today, Attorney General Drew Edmondson and State Treasurer Robert Butkin said it would be much wiser to set up a trust fund, spending only the interest on programs.
Leaders of the Oklahoma Silver-Haired Legislature also criticized the bond plan, insisting that much of the money be used for health-related projects.
James Crowder, speaker of the group, called the plan ludicrous and urged senior citizens to make their opposition known to lawmakers.
