(Austin-AP) -- Actor Matthew McConaughey is out of jail in Austin after being arrested early today as police investigated a public disturbance call.
The 29-year-old actor was charged with resisting transportation, which is a misdemeanor.
McConaughey was released on a one-thousand dollar personal recognizance bond, and didn't have to post any cash.
McConaughey was arrested on charges of public disturbance and resisting transportation.
The 1993 graduate of the University of Texas declined comment as he left jail -- but he did flash the U-T hook-'em horns sign.
Police say they traveled to McConaughey's home after receiving a complaint of loud music.
Officer Michael Olson says he entered McConaughey's house and could smell a faint odor of marijuana -- and found a shallow bowl with marijuana stems and seeds in it and a pipe.
According to Olson's statement, McConaughey tried to push the officer, but he grabbed McConaughey's arm, twisted it around his back and handcuffed him.
Defense attorney Joe Turner says police illegally searched McConaughey's house because they didn't have a search warrant. Turner also alleges police used excessive force.
McConaughey has starred in "A Time to Kill," "Contact," "Amistad," "EDtv" and "Dazed and Confused."
