Southeastern Oklahoma is in first place in the Lone Star Conference North Division.
But that's not enough to ease coach Morris Sloan's concerns. Sloan says he's still nervous. He says his happy his team's winning, but his players know they've got a lot of room for improvement.
The Savages started the year with two losses. But Sloan feels his team could have won both games. Since then, they have won three in a row, all of them Lone Star Conference games.
Sloan's optimism is tempered because of the other teams in the North Division. Central Oklahoma, ranked third among N-C-Double-A Division Two schools, is 2-and-oh in the league and 4--and-oh overall. Northeastern State is 3-and-1 in the conference, 3-and-2 overall. Southwestern is improved from a year ago at 3-and-2 overall, 2-and-2 in the conference.
