(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson has requested execution dates in 60 days for death row inmates Bobby Lynn Ross and Cornel Cooks. They have been on Oklahoma's death row for more than 16 years. Ross and Cooks' appeals were exhausted yesterday when the U-S Supreme Court refused to hear their appeals. Edmondson says he expects the Court of Criminal Appeals to honor the requests for the execution dates. Ross was convicted in 1983 for killing Elk City police officer Stephen Mahan. Cooks was also convicted in 1983 for the rape and murder of 87-year-old Jennie Elva Ridling during a burglary. The Supreme Court also passed on hearing appeals of seven other death row inmates, without comment. They were in the first stage of the appeals process.
